Thanks to Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric, a knowledgeable collector who gave me the challenge of reproducing this engine from the legendary Traction 22 hp in 1\/43 scale. I took up this challenge with enthusiasm and passion, and I hope you will like the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historical reminder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The V8 engine is not originally American! Its development is generally attributed to the French engineer L\u00e9on Levavasseur, who in 1902 created an eight-cylinder V engine initially intended for aviation, under the Antoinette brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An audacious project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 1934, Citro\u00ebn, already a pioneer with its Traction Avant, envisaged a high-end model to compete with prestige brands. The 22 CV was to embody this ambition, featuring a 3.8-litre V8 engine developing around 100 horsepower, allowing for a top speed of 140 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An aborted production<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Despite prototypes being presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1934, the 22 CV was never mass-produced. Citro\u00ebn's financial difficulties, heightened by the economic crisis, and the technical challenges linked to the V8 engine led to the abandonment of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An iconic model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Traction 22 CV V8 is considered a legendary model. Very few examples were produced, and their fate remains uncertain. Some are said to have been converted into 11 CV models, while others are believed to have disappeared. A rare item, a specific headlight trim for the 22 CV, was sold at auction in 2019 for over 5,000 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The miniature V8 engine: a rarity for collectors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the bodywork of the Traction 22 CV, reproduced by several manufacturers in 1\/43 scale, the specific V8 engine for this model has not seen an independent miniature reproduction by traditional manufacturers in the sector (NOREV, Solido, etc.). Thus, enthusiasts wishing to acquire a scale model of the 22 CV's V8 engine will have to turn to artisan creations (such as that of Mr J. Aubineau)... or like the one I am presenting to you here!
