{"id":60,"date":"2024-08-09T14:38:59","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T14:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/garage143.fr\/?p=60"},"modified":"2026-08-09T18:33:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T18:33:56","slug":"citroen-type-j-tractor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garage143.fr\/en\/tracteur-citroen-type-j\/","title":{"rendered":"Citroen Type J tractor"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-accent-3-color has-accent-1-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-1\">Important update: August 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-accent-3-color has-accent-1-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Type J is scheduled in 1\/43rd miniature in the \u00abCitro\u00ebn vans\u00bb collection by Altaya publishing (issue no. 83, provisional publication date 2 February 2028).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Citro\u00ebn Type J succeeded a first attempt at a vineyard tractor in 1919<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Citro\u00ebn Type J tractor or Citro\u00ebn's agricultural ambitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the 1940s, at Citro\u00ebn's top-secret testing facility in La Fert\u00e9-Vidamme (Eure-et-Loir), testing began for this tractor. It was not the first vehicle of its kind, as a vineyard tractor had been produced at the end of the First World War. Only three Type J tractors were built, including one with two-wheel drive and another with full four-wheel drive. Tests were carried out by the farming monks of the Abbey of Soligny. The four-wheel drive model ended its career as a farm tool and a recovery vehicle for the prototypes tested at the La Fert\u00e9-Vidamme proving ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Citro\u00ebn Type J tractor: design and characteristics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its appearance is typical of agricultural vehicles of that era. With a total length of around 3.20 metres and a width of about 1.50 metres, the Type J is distinguished by its 4 identical wheels. It is equipped with an engine derived from that of the Traction 7 hp. Its height is around 1.80 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citro\u00ebn miniature tractors in 1\/43 scale<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Citro\u00ebn B2 vineyard tractor was reproduced in the \u00abTRACTEURS ET MONDE AGRICOLE\u00bb (1\/43 scale) partwork collection published by HACHETTE \/ UNIVERSAL HOBBIES in issue 65 (out of 146 in total) released on 28 August 2008. It can now be found fairly easily at model fairs and motor shows where diecast model dealers are present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/garage143.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Tracteur_Citroen_Viticole_1919.jpg\" alt=\"1919 Citro\u00ebn vineyard tractor\" class=\"wp-image-552\" style=\"width:276px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/garage143.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Tracteur_Citroen_Viticole_1919.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/garage143.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Tracteur_Citroen_Viticole_1919-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/garage143.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Tracteur_Citroen_Viticole_1919-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the Type J, and following my research, it has never been reproduced (neither in 1:43 nor in 1:32 scale, which is the scale generally used for agricultural miniatures).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The steps involved in making the miniature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the documentary research, I am carrying out the 3D modelling using several software programs, notably Fusion360 and Meshmixer, for dividing it into parts to be printed. Here, everything is made of resin. For the presentation, I chose a crystal box with a wooden base where I have reproduced the manufacturer's \u00abTEST\u00bb plate for the first three models in the numbered series. The plate is reproduced using FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) 3D printing and not in resin.
